Mike with a Stanislaus River Striper
This Striped Bass was taken on a fly March 16th weighing 23.5 lbs. It was the first fish of my day with 4 more small Stripers to follow and off the river by 1:00pm. Stanislaus river flows into the Delta with clear cold water from snow melt in the Sierra Mountains. Some of the Stripers are residents and others migrate up from the bay. Most of the year I sight-fish for Stripers spotting schools of 10 to 30 fish with some over 40lbs. Fly-fishing or casting lures are equally productive. These fish are in habitat that is not the norm for Stripers.
