Stanislaus River Rainbow
17" Rainbow trout are common in a day's drift trip down this river. January 2, 1999 I landed over 30 fish on spinning gear while oaring the boat so my companion could land fish on dry flies and nymphs. The Rainbows here are incredible, with leaps and runs like a Steelhead. They look a lot like Shasta Rainbows but have a black chrome color. This is one of the top fishing opportunities in California. Stanislaus River channel has great diversity, which leads to sometimes unpredictable currents and dangerous structures. This river requires a professional with experience on its waters to fish it successfully. Fly or lures, this is an adventure with fishing equal to the greatest Trout streams.
